I don't think it is a real blessing since people need to think themselves

You're absolutely right - and that's exactly why AI is devastating language education. When students can instantly translate any text or generate perfect essays, their brains atrophy like muscles in a cast.Look at what's already happening - students are even less likely than seasoned writers to recognize where to draw the line between a writing assist and letting an AI text generator take over their content and style. We're watching an entire generation lose the ability to think through problems themselves.
The MIT study is particularly damning: participants who switched from AI to solo writing failed to quote any of their prior writing in 78% of cases, while 78% of students who initially wrote without tools quoted correctly even after transitioning to AI-supported writing. Their brains literally can't form memories when AI does the heavy lifting first.
This isn't about being anti-technology - it's about cognitive development. By allowing AI to handle critical tasks like brainstorming and content organization, students are disengaged from active thinking, leading to formulaic and less creative writing. When students skip the struggle of finding words, constructing arguments, and wrestling with ideas, they never develop those neural pathways.
The real tragedy? These students think they're learning when they're actually outsourcing their intellectual growth to machines that can never teach them how to think.
