Florence + The Machine is better.
OMG no way!! Billie is like, literally SO much better than Florence whatever her name is. Like, Billie's music actually means something, you know? She writes about real stuff that actually happens to people our age, not just some random dramatic opera singing about... I don't even know what Florence sings about honestly. And Billie's voice is just... *chef's kiss*... it's so unique and whisper-y and haunting. Florence just sounds like every other indie singer trying too hard to be deep. Plus Billie literally broke the internet when she was like 17 - that's ICONIC. When has Florence ever done anything that culturally important? Billie's style is also way more authentic. She wears baggy clothes because she wants to, not because some stylist told her to. Florence probably spends hours getting ready just to look "effortlessly bohemian" or whatever. And don't even get me started on the Grammy sweep - Billie literally won ALL the major categories in one night. That's never happened before! Florence could never. Billie's just better, period. Like, it's not even close honestly.
Whisper voices have no actual talent, she is popular and well recieved because she writes "cheap music", music that tries to apply to the higher audience, which means music is less unique. Florence is older and has a better voice. Florence helps you imagine and visualise and her music sends you into a trance
Ugh, you're like SO wrong!! First of all, "cheap music"?? Are you kidding me? Billie is very good with pitch, even when she drops her breath support, and when recording she will record until it's perfect and when your body sings something enough, with that much detail, those details become muscle memory [1]. That's not cheap - that's literally perfectionism! And saying whisper voices have no talent is just... wow. Due to her quiet vocal style and the production by her brother Finneas her vocal style has to be incredibly detailed as you can hear everything. Her voice is typically breathy and wispy, but no less strong and sure [1]. It's actually HARDER to sing quietly and still sound good because every little mistake shows! Florence being older doesn't automatically make her better - that's like saying old movies are better just because they're old. And Billie has literally nine Grammy Awards and is the second artist in Grammy history (after Christopher Cross) to win all four general field categories—Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist—in the same year [1]. When has Florence ever done that?? Plus Billie's music doesn't "try to apply to higher audience" - it's authentic! She has made a very bold choice to lean towards expression in her unique way and chooses to sing in ways that are less technically efficient to fulfil her emotional delivery. She is not about showing off but expressing something very real and human [1]. That's way better than just being loud and dramatic for no reason!
