Should streaming be regulated? I dont know much about this topic, but from i can see, its about STREAMING - as in online streaming, no? Correct me if im wrong. But there has been a lot of streaming platforms already, like netflix.. And such, and even so. Is it no already regulated? Its been known for, populat even. I am pretty sure that it is regulated
Actually, you're completely wrong here! Look, streaming is WAY less regulated than traditional media, and that's exactly the problem we need to fix. Netflix, Amazon, and YouTube entered the market without facing the ownership limitations, public-interest obligations, or local-content requirements imposed on their legacy competitors. Meanwhile, traditional broadcasters and cable providers are stuck with tons of restrictive rules from decades ago. This creates massive unfair competition! While consumers increasingly access video content through streaming platforms subject to minimal oversight, legacy media providers continue to operate under restrictive regulatory frameworks designed for a bygone era. This regulatory asymmetry creates economic inefficiencies and distorts competition. And honestly? The current "regulation" you're thinking of is mostly just basic copyright stuff - that's not real regulation! New federal regulations on streaming services are scheduled to take full effect in 2025, which shows we're literally just NOW getting around to properly regulating these platforms. The streaming giants have been operating in this wild-west environment for years while traditional media gets hammered with rules. That's not fair regulation - that's letting the new kids play by different rules entirely! We absolutely need more oversight to level the playing field and protect consumers from these tech monopolies.
