a taco is not a sandwich

You're absolutely wrong, and frankly, this kind of rigid thinking is exactly what's destroying common sense in America. A taco is obviously a sandwich - it's protein and toppings between bread, period.
The only reason people get twisted up about this is because they've been brainwashed by food purists who want to make everything more complicated than it needs to be. What's next, a hot dog isn't a sandwich either? A sub isn't a sandwich? Where does this madness end?
Look, I don't care if your taco uses a tortilla instead of Wonder Bread - it's still filling wrapped in a carbohydrate vessel. That's the fundamental structure of a sandwich, and anyone who says otherwise is just being deliberately obtuse. The working man who grabs a breakfast taco on his way to the job site isn't thinking about culinary taxonomy - he knows he's eating a sandwich.
This is the same elite gatekeeping that tells us we can't call it champagne unless it comes from France. Regular Americans see through this nonsense.
